When did we start "waving the wheat" at ball games?

We don't...really know. It turns out, this is one of those traditions that doesn't seem to have a firm start date. Our best estimate is that it started in the late 20s or early 30s. This comes from viewing old photos, and a 1997 Alumni Mag article. We were also told Max Faulkenstein wasn't sure of the exact year, but agreed with 20s or 30s. Check out this video of KU fans waving the wheat!
